Decisions To Make?!?!

I thought I had it all figured out. The college thing, I mean. I was expecting to move to New York City next year and go to Fordham University. I was excited.

And I can still do that. But now, I have options. Very tempting options. It suddenly became cheaper to move to Bremen, Germany and attend Jacobs University. Yeah. Germany. Moving to Europe. Something I’ve wanted to do for ages. An amazing opportunity that I can’t imagine passing up.

I love both options. I love them so much that I don’t want to let go of either one. There are definite benefits to each one. I don’t know what to do. Somehow, my certainty and excitement have become paralyzing, exciting indecision.

Ick…that is hard. I mean, living in NYC is a fantastic opportunity too. But Europe? Way cool. I guess I’d start weighing universities versus locations. Like maybe you’d rather be in Germany than NYC, but Fordham beats Jacobs more than Germany beats NYC, so you might want to sacrifice Germany. Or vice versa. Whatever.

I don’t know. I guess I’d find it a bit disorienting for my first semester of college to be in a foreign country. Both college and living in a foreign country are adjustments; I’m not sure I’d want to put up with both at the same time. There are always foreign exchange options too, which maybe could make the decision easier if you realize that it’s not really one or the other. It’s just which one first. 😛

Also, I’d consider additional expenses. Jacobs might be cheaper to attend, but what about airfare? That sort of thing. But then, NYC’s not cheap either, so….

Best of luck making your decision!

I figured it all out and Jacobs is definitely going to be cheaper, even considering everything, partially because a BA takes 3 years to earn in Europe instead of 4 here.

Right now…I’m feeling Jacobs. Because Germany is a once-in-a-lifetime thing (probably), and I can always move to New York later. Plus, with the money I’ll save, I can travel around Europe on my breaks 🙂 At least that’s how I’m feeling at this moment…

Thanks for your take. I’m collecting opinions 🙂
